The last tax year started on 6 April 2017 and ended on 5 April 2018.
|Register for Self Assessment if you’re self-employed or a sole trader, not self-employed, or registering a partner or partnership||5 October 2018|
|Paper tax returns||Midnight 31 October 2018|
|Online tax returns||Midnight 31 January 2019|
|Pay the tax you owe||Midnight 31 January 2019|
You’ll also get a penalty of £100 if your tax return is up to 3 months late. You may have to pay more if it’s later, or if you pay your tax bill late. You’ll also be charged interest on late payments.
What to do if you Cannot Pay Your Tax Liability Now.
Contact HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) as soon as possible.
You might be able to set up a payment plan to pay in instalments. To set up a payment plan, you need a Government Gateway user ID and password. If you do not have a user ID, you can create one when you set up a payment plan.
Interest may be due if you pay late. You may avoid penalties by contacting HMRC as soon as possible.
If you cannot pay before the deadline, call the Business Payment Support Service. Anyone can use this service, not just businesses.
